Komedia Brighton – 1st November 2026

Fancy dress, spooky tunes and a dancefloor full of little monsters, Disco Kidz Halloween Special brought a clubbing experience to families at Komedia Brighton, giving children and their grown-ups the chance to hit the dancefloor. With a DJ, dance-offs, face painting and plenty of opportunities to get into the spooky spirit, it was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

This two and a half hour daytime disco gave children a taste of the club scene without the late nights or loud music. Everyone was welcome to dress up, and the fancy dress was very much part of the fun. From little witches and skeletons to superheroes and all manner of spooky characters, the costumes helped set the scene as soon as families arrived.

The music was the star of the show, with the Disco Kidz DJ keeping the tunes coming throughout the party. There was a mix of familiar favourites that got the children singing along and dancing, alongside Halloween-themed tracks to keep things suitably spooky, such as Monster Mash, Ghostbusters and Thriller. It was lovely to see children getting excited about the music, especially those experiencing a club environment for the very first time and the sound levels were kept safe for young ears.

The face painter was a real highlight, giving children the chance to add a little extra Halloween magic to their costumes. Whether they fancied a spooky spider, a creepy design or something a little less frightening, it was a lovely addition to the afternoon. There were also Halloween colouring sheets and pencil crayons available, offering a quieter activity for children who needed a break from dancing or fancied doing something different.

Another fun touch was the spooky photo backdrop, complete with cobweb decorations, which gave families a chance to grab some Halloween pictures together. Inflatable musical instruments were also available, and these went down well with the children, who could wave them around and pretend they were headlining their own rock concert.

One of the nicest things about Disco Kidz was its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. There was no pressure for children to join in with everything, and families could enjoy the afternoon at their own pace. Some headed straight onto the dancefloor, showing off their moves, while others preferred to watch for a little while before getting involved. Grown-ups could join in too, making it a family party rather than an event where parents were left standing around waiting for the children. The fully stocked bar was another welcome feature for guardians, giving adults the chance to grab a drink while keeping an eye on the fun.

If there was one thing that could have made the experience even better, it was a little more structure throughout the afternoon. A dedicated children’s entertainer or host on stage could have helped bring everyone together for planned games, group dances and Halloween challenges. The dance-offs were a great idea, and having someone leading more activities could have made these moments even more of a feature.

That said, Disco Kidz Halloween Special was a lovely alternative to the usual family Halloween outing. It gave children the chance to dress up, discover new music, dance with their families and enjoy a party atmosphere in a safe setting. Whether the little ones were confident dancers or needed a bit of encouragement before letting loose, it was lovely to see the whole family sharing the dancefloor.

For a Halloween afternoon with a difference, Disco Kidz at Komedia Brighton was well worth checking out. Families came dressed to impress, got their dancing shoes on and enjoyed a couple of hours of spooky family fun. Who said clubbing had to wait until you were grown up?
