Review: Barbara’s Bier Haus Bottomless Brunch

Barbara’s Bier Haus has launched its Absolutely Après’ Bottomless Brunch that spoils you rotten with unlimited drinks, unlimited pizza, a live band belting out party hits and staff dancing on the bar in lederhosen. If that sounds more like a night out than a brunch, you’ve pretty much got the idea.

Located on West Street, Barbara’s Bier Haus brings a slice of Alpine-inspired hospitality to the south coast. From the moment you step inside, the venue has a completely different feel to many of the city’s brunch spots. The decor leans heavily into its Bavarian theme, with rustic wooden features, cosy lighting and loads of character throughout. It feels welcoming and cute rather than gimmicky, creating a relaxed atmosphere that immediately puts everyone in the mood for a good time.

Our group was shown to one of the comfortable booth areas, which gave us plenty of space to settle in and enjoy the 90 session. Of course, the drinks are a huge part of the experience and Barbara’s Bier Haus doesn’t disappoint. Guests can enjoy unlimited beer, cider, house spirits, Prosecco and cocktails. There is also a very fun addition that instantly got people talking. Sex on the Beach is available on tap on the table, allowing guests to pour their own drinks. And this is topped up frequently by the staff, complete with sparklers and a confetti shower.

The brunch itself centres around unlimited margarita and pepperoni pizza, with gluten free options available for those who need them. The pizzas arrived regularly throughout the session and there was never a point where we felt we were waiting around for more food. The pepperoni pizza was exactly what you want alongside a steady flow of drinks. Crispy, cheesy, satisfying and ideal for sharing around the table. The pizzas were a little over-cooked but it’s crowd pleasing comfort food that perfectly suits the laid-back atmosphere.

The cocktail selection was another highlight. Throughout the brunch, guests could enjoy favourites including Pina Coladas, Strawberry Daiquiris, Mojitos, Espresso Martinis and more. The drinks arrived quickly and consistently, with friendly staff doing an impressive job of keeping everyone’s glasses topped up. The team were attentive throughout without ever feeling intrusive.

In fact, the staff deserve a special mention because they play a huge role in what makes this brunch so enjoyable. Dressed in traditional lederhosen and dirndls, they fully embrace the venue’s Alpine theme while maintaining genuinely friendly and professional service. It never felt forced or overly theatrical. Instead, the team created an atmosphere where everyone felt welcome and encouraged to have fun.

The entertainment is also top quality. Rather than relying solely on background music, the afternoon featured a live band performing a mix of well known party hits. The musicians brought a huge amount of energy to the room and quickly had people singing along. Once the live set finished, the party continued with a soundtrack of party anthems that kept the energy levels high. Members of staff even joined in the fun by performing party dances on the bar.

Despite the party atmosphere, it never crossed into chaotic territory. There was a good balance between entertainment and comfort, meaning guests could still hold conversations and enjoy time with their friends. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, organising a hen party, catching up with mates or simply looking for a different weekend activity, the format works really well.

Perhaps the biggest compliment is that the experience feels very generous. The pizzas kept coming, drinks were constantly replenished and the staff worked hard to maintain the energy throughout. Some bottomless brunches can feel as though they are carefully managing how much food and drink reaches your table. Here, there was no such feeling.

Overall, Barbara’s Bier Haus in Brighton delivers exactly what a modern bottomless brunch in Brighton should be. Great food, flowing drinks, excellent service and lively entertainment all come together to create an afternoon that is hugely enjoyable from start to finish. It’s fun without being over the top, energetic without being exhausting and organised without losing its sense of spontaneity. If you are looking for a brunch that feels more like a celebration than a meal, Barbara’s Bier Haus has found a winning formula.
