Review: Divina de Campo – I Do Think

Komedia Brighton – 28th April 2025

Divina de Campo’s show, I Do Think, arrived at Komedia Brighton, bringing cabaret, comedy and candid storytelling from the Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK star.

The one-woman show offered the audience a personal journey through de Campo’s life and career, combining show-stopping musical numbers with unflinching honesty and signature northern humour.

De Campo moved with ease between gorgeous live vocals, cheeky humour and intimate monologues, weaving tales of professional highs, personal lows and the quiet moments in between. There atmosphere was relaxed with De Campo coming across as surprisingly down to earth.

There was no shortage of humour throughout. De Campo’s well-timed barbs, particularly those directed at fellow Drag Race UK contestants were received with laughter and knowing applause.

Her comedic instincts remained sharp and her trademark Yorkshire frankness gave the show a refreshing sense of honesty. Vocally, she was consistently impressive, shifting from comedic numbers to heartfelt ballads with apparent ease.

At the heart of I Do Think was a message about self-acceptance and authenticity. De Campo’s reflections were often deeply personal, including a powerful account of her experience as a survivor of grooming in her youth.

This moment, delivered with sincerity and restraint, brought a profound stillness to the room. It was followed by a call for kindness and compassion, emphasising the emotional depth of the show beneath its sequinned surface.

The production balanced vulnerability with theatrical flair, creating a show that felt both polished and personal. It was delivered with warmth, intelligence, and a performer’s instinct for connection.

Divina de Campo proved herself not only as a gifted performer but as a thoughtful, compelling and hilarious storyteller. This was drag with depth, modern, self-aware and delivered with style and sincerity.
