Komedia Brighton – 2nd March 2025

PopKids at Komedia Brighton was a family-friendly event that brought the fun of a club atmosphere to children and parents with a DJ, themed performances and interactive entertainment.

This event was themed around The Greatest Showman and the show was well-organised, featuring a 90-minute hosted programme filled with party dances, games and prize giveaways. Children had plenty of chances to join in.

The host was enthusiastic and engaging, leading party dances and games with confidence. Bubbles the Clown was a hit with the children, creating giant bubbles, making balloon animals and performing magic tricks, while engaging with each child with a big smile on her face.

Additional attractions included face painting and popcorn, though these came at an extra charge. While not unexpected, families with multiple children might want to factor this into their visit.
The music leaned heavily towards 90s and early 00s dance tracks which resonated with the parents. However, a broader mix incorporating more children’s favourites, pop or Disney hits could have better engaged the younger audience. While the energy was mostly high, a few well-known sing-along songs would have added to the excitement for the little ones.

There was a promise of a special guest performance. On this occasion, the guest was a Bearded Lady lookalike from The Greatest Showman, delivering a lip-synced performance. A live vocal act or a more enthusiastic stage presence could have enhanced this element of the show, making it a more memorable moment, especially when it was advertised that previous guests were Pikachu, Bluey, Stitch and other Disney characters.

Overall, PopKids offers a fun and energetic experience with a great atmosphere. A few tweaks, such as a more varied playlist and a more engaging guest performance, could make it even better. Still, it’s a solid choice for families looking for an entertaining and interactive day out.
