Komedia Brighton – 1st December 2024

The Maydays: Confessions is the kind of show where anything can happen, and that’s exactly what makes it so entertaining.
Before the performance even starts, audience members are invited to anonymously jot down their juiciest secrets, most awkward moments and odd little stories. These become the raw material for the night’s comedy gold and The Maydays know exactly how to spin it.

The troupe takes these random titbits and, with lightning-fast thinking, transforms them into sharp sketches, quirky songs and off-the-wall scenes. It’s improv comedy in its purest form, filled with wild twists, ridiculous scenarios and a fair bit of cheekiness.
One moment they’re belting out a musical number about an embarrassing accident, the next they’re turning a cringe-worthy confession into a surreal piece of theatre. The pace is fast, the humour is unpredictable and no topic is too bizarre, salacious or too tame for them to tackle.
What really stands out is the chemistry between the performers. They bounce off each other effortlessly, building on each idea and taking it to hilarious extremes. Every member of the group gets their moment and they all shine in different ways, whether it’s through quick wit, physical comedy or impressive musical talents. The fact that they can create such polished, hilarious scenes on the fly is genuinely impressive.

The audience plays a huge role in the fun. Their confessions drive the show, and watching their reactions as their stories get the improv treatment adds another layer of laughter. Even the more mundane submissions get twisted into something unexpectedly funny.
The Maydays prove once again that they can turn absolutely anything into a hilarious performance. Confessions is a winning formula and the laughter in the room says it all. This is improv done right.
