Punk Rock Factor – Brighton Chalk

Wednesday 20th November 2024

Punk Rock Factory stormed into Chalk in Brighton on their Stick to the Covers tour, delivering a night of high-energy, full-throttle fun that had the crowd buzzing from start to finish.

Known for their punked-up takes on Disney classics and nostalgic pop hits, this Welsh rock quartet knows how to turn a gig into a proper party.

Kicking off with a turbocharged version of How Far I’ll Go from Moana, followed by a brilliantly punky version of Aladdin’s Friend Like Me, ABBA’s Mamma Mia and The Little Mermaid’s Under the Sea, all filled with punchy guitar riffs.

The mix of shredding guitars, pounding drums and harmonised vocals was electric and the crowd couldn’t get enough.

The set wasn’t just about Disney. They teased tracks from their latest album, giving pop classics like C’est La Vie and Back for Good a riotous makeover.

Every song was brimming with nostalgia. Their versions of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers and Pokemon theme tunes brought the house down with epic singalongs.

There was even a cheeky rap battle to You’re Welcome with a free t-shirt as the prize, a nice touch to get the audience involved.

They didn’t stop there, throwing in jingles from Toys R Us and Milky Way for a bit of extra childhood throwback. It’s seriously impressive how they can turn anything into a punk rock anthem. It’s all done with a wink and a nod while keeping the musicianship top-notch.

Charismatic frontman Peej smashed the vocals while the rest of the band, Benj on bass, Ryan on guitar and Kob on drums, kept the energy levels sky-high throughout.

Wrapping up with bangers like We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Let It Go, they left the audience grinning, albeit with sore throats from all that singing.
