Review: Christopher Hall: A Girl for All Seasons

Christopher Hall: A Girl for All Seasons
Brighton Dome – 27th October 2024

Social media star Christopher Hall was a ball of energy as he gave Brighton the giggles with his Girl for All Seasons stand up show, reflecting on his life as a ‘boy who’s a bit girly really.’

His first act mainly consisted of audience interaction, showcasing his warmth, cheeky side and infectious personality, followed by the support act, Karen Hobbs. She was very funny with great anecdotes on being a non-Karen Karen, but it was clear by the interval that the audience were craving more time with Christopher Hall.

Known for his viral sketches like Background Singers, Your Cat and The Millennial, which have racked up more than 12 millions likes and 50 million views, Christopher’s pop culture references were spot on. His high-energy delivery and use of the stage had everyone laughing as he danced, strutted, posed and made use of every part of the stage.

It was all about 90s and early 00s nostalgia with plenty of hilarious stories about school, dating in his 30s and being the life of the party at weddings. His bit on core values was a hilarious highlight.

Christopher mixed playful humour with some genuinely heartfelt moments, especially when talking about being a gay man who didn’t always feel like he fit in. His stories about growing up, performing as Sebastian the crab when he really wanted to be the mermaid and his observations on culture in Australia and the US had the audience in stitches.

The vibe was like catching up with your funniest friend over a glass of wine, full of gossip and secret admissions. By the end of the show, the whole room was buzzing, and it’s clear that next time he performs in Brighton, it’ll be to a much bigger crowd. He’s a natural storyteller with a knack for blending comedy, cheekiness and sincerity, leaving everyone wanting more.
