Society Welcomes Duchess of Edinburgh as Royal Patron

The South of England Agricultural Society is delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Edinburgh GCVO has taken on the role of Royal Patron.

Since its founding in 1967, through the merger of historic agricultural groups dating back to the 1830s, the Society has proudly represented Berkshire, East Sussex, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Kent, Surrey and West Sussex.

Following in the footsteps of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Duchess brings a deep commitment to the countryside and the agricultural sector.

Known for her passion for agriculture and rural life, Her Royal Highness is already an active supporter of UK agricultural shows and a Patron of the Association of Show and Agricultural Organisations.

Her work highlights the critical role of food producers, encourages youth careers in agriculture and promotes sustainable farming practices.

Charles Burgoyne, Chairman of the South of England Agricultural Society, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome The Duchess of Edinburgh as Royal Patron. She’s been a fantastic 2024 President, supporting us at events like the Jim Green Challenge and the South of England Show. We look forward to working with her for many years to come.”
