World Opera Day Discount from Theatre Royal Brighton

Next March, award-winning producer Ellen Kent is bringing the magic of Puccini to Brighton’s Theatre Royal with two beloved classics: La Bohème on Friday 21st March and Madama Butterfly on Saturday 22nd March 2025. Performed by the renowned Ukrainian Opera & Ballet Theatre Kyiv, these traditional productions promise rich visuals, acclaimed soloists, a full orchestra and a chorus praised worldwide.

In honour of World Opera Day on 25th October 2024, Theatre Royal Brighton is offering a £5 discount on Premium and Band A and B tickets for both operas, available until 31st October 2024.

Madama Butterfly, a Liverpool Daily Post Theatre Award winner for Best Opera, is set to return with stunning sets that include a traditional Japanese garden and gorgeous costumes, such as authentic antique kimonos. Puccini’s tragic tale of love, loss and sacrifice, highlighted by unforgettable pieces like The Humming Chorus, One Fine Day and the Love Duet, will be sung in Italian with English subtitles for an immersive experience.

La Bohème will transport audiences to 19th-century Paris in a story of love and heartbreak between Mimi and her penniless writer, set to famous arias like Your Tiny Hand is Frozen, They Call Me Mimi and Muzetta’s Waltz. The production is completed with snow effects and even a cameo by Muzetta’s dog, adding to its charm and beauty.

Directed by Ellen Kent, who personally selects and guides her soloists, these performances are poised to be visually stunning and emotionally impactful nights of opera at its finest.
