Classical Music at Brighton Dome this Autumn

Classical music lovers are in for a treat this autumn at Brighton Dome where a line-up of performances will showcase seasoned ensembles and rising stars. With the newly refurbished Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre reopening alongside the historic Concert Hall, the stage is set for an exciting season.

The popular Sunday morning Coffee Concerts return to the Corn Exchange, offering chamber music fans a chance to enjoy an eclectic range of performances. This season, the line-up features London Symphony Orchestra’s Principal Oboist, Olivier Stankiewicz, performing a daring Prokofiev piece on 20th October. Also featured is Classic FM’s 2024 Rising Star violinist Charlotte Spruit, accompanied by harpsichordist Tom Foster on 24th November. The Atenea Quartet rounds out the series, blending Haydn with a new work from Scottish composer Electra Perivolaris.

Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra is marking its 100th year with a series of special concerts. Saxophonist Jess Gillam will bring Górecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs to life on 13th October, while percussion legend Evelyn Glennie takes the stage on 1st December with a varied programme spanning Scottish folk tunes to Arabian fairy tales. November also brings a cinematic treat with Bernard Herrmann’s Psycho suite, juxtaposed with Bach and Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov’s Silent Music for Strings.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra is also joining the mix with Principal Conductor Edward Gardner making his Brighton Dome debut on 5th October, conducting Sibelius with violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja. On 23rd November, guest conductor Martin Rajna teams up with Isata Kanneh-Mason for a moving performance of Beethoven’s fourth piano concerto.

With Brighton Dome’s recent restoration of the Grade I and Grade II listed Corn Exchange and Studio Theatre, this historic venue is better equipped than ever to host a wide range of cultural events for this season of music.
